Veon is the 9th largest mobile network operator in the world, supplying telecom networks & services to over 200 million customers in 10 diverse across Asia, Africa & Europe.
Back in 2016, it was undergoing a major digital transformation & rebranding project. A core initiative and focus was on a branded communication app, offering free-to-use streaming & features for its network customers.
Working on the project from early concepts and design exploration with partner agency Native, later moving in-house to evolve the features and flows across numerous production releases.

Early concept screens, created for a vision film directed by James Hilton at partner agency Native.

Working in-house, I focused more on refining flows, creating new features, and adding the micro-moments that make using, fun.
Not everything made production, but here are a few of my personal favorites.
Rather than opt for using native camera support, ours was designed from the ground up.
Working alongside the developers and PO, I crafted the experience, from UI to sharing flows.

We created onboarding flows and permission primers, as well as custom integration of the maps API which allows users to discover local businesses. The feature launched in Tibilisi.
