OVERVIEW

Designing 'core' engagement features for an audience of over 200 million users, across diverse and unique markets.

Working closely with our research and product teams we evolved all feature aspects of the product, fixing known issues, enhancing flows and making users lives simpler.

ALL SYSTEMS GO

To deliver, maintain and develop large feature-sets, having a pre-defined pattern & component library was vital.

Work included: co-creating the initial system, adapting and evolving to meet product and team needs

RESEARCH AND AUDIT

Primary research conducted by our specialist teams always informed the work we did, often followed by an experience audit of problem flows.

SECONDARY RESEARCH

With patterns and behaviours, embedded in our habits by well-established apps, we mapped existing flows and patterns.

IDEAS, IDEAS, IDEAS

Once we'd gone all 'Beautiful Mind' with the research, we let the ideas flow. These would be filtered down by the team, assessed for brand-fit/dev-effort/value

IA AND FLOW ITERATION

When possible, concepts were put out for user testing, allowing us to refine, this wasn't of course, always possible. Flows ready for handoff, were fully annotated, indicating key states, and referencing Library components.

INTERACTION DESIGN

As features matured, we'd look to IxD & prototypes to smooth the experience

Capturing, editing and sharing

CAPTURING CONTENT

Making the VEON camera as intuitive as possible was the main goal when designing the experience. Simple things like defaulting to the front-facing
camera, if opened from 'change profile profile'.

Depending on device orientation, the UI responds to ensure the most natural position whilst not interfering with the viewport.

EDITING CONTENT ON THE GO

Tools for adjusting and manipulating were kept to a minimum, as there are plenty of 3rd party apps for that. Simple, clean and clear was the goal here.

ADAPTIVE UI

User-orientated

Careful consideration was paid to how the UI should adapt, based-on device orientation. Ensuring the lens was never covered, and that core features were visible, with actions easily actionable.

MAPBOX INTEGRATION

Chat with you city

Developing-out the feature alongside the local market team, we opened up offers and local discovery with a host of launch partners. Alongside this feature, users could also discover their friends on the map, making meeting up and connecting easier.

With a variety of market instances we needed to map out the feature flows, per market, showing which features were available, and what permissions were required.
