Veon is the 9th largest mobile network operator in the world, supplying telecom networks & services to over 200 million customers in 10 diverse across Asia, Africa & Europe.
In 2017, the VEON product launched across 10 markets, with a range of world-firsts in serivce management, integrated maps & services, entertainment channels, and all importantly: no barriers to use.
My initial involvement in the project was via Native, VEON's agency. I was bought in to help their design team in the early stages of the design phase.
A unique brand interface was brought to life with a vision film, showing a bright future with innovative new partnerships & integrations seamlessly providing real value to customers' lives.
Moving in-house I continued to lead Product Design across the native iOS and Android app, working primarily on core features and interactions.
Every aspect of the interface was considered, crafted, and custom to the needs of VEON users, from messaging, VoIP, and local discovery, to personal expression.
The use of literal imagery, iconography, and emojis was designed to be understood by a diverse demographic and used heavily in-app.
